Granted, I am aware of his love of musicals, as his favorite movie from 1979 to 2013 was Grease. However, the extent of his passion for Pitch Perfect unquestioningly surpasses any emotion he ever felt for any movie ever. Pitch Perfect follows the story of Beca Mitchell, an incoming college freshman whose dream is to professionally produce music. When she arrives to her new school, Barden University, she is prompted to join the Barden Bellas, a disgraced, on-campus, all-female acapella team on their journey to the national championships in hope of redemption. The movie is almost exclusively a non-stop pop music montage fueled by oneliners and song mash-ups that were outdated even at the time of its release. Not the most obvious instant family favorite, but it manages to outrank the Christmas classic Home Alone (1990) on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the almost aggressively cheesy formula of this movie does not thwart my fatherââ¬â¢s affection, but actually fuels it. He believes it parallels the cliches of the movies he grew up with (an homage to the year 1985; garnished with an unnecessary romantic subplot and served with a side of redemption.) The music that drives this narrative is so overwhelmingly over-produced that being believably acapella is out of the question. Regardless, my expectations of actual acapella was elevated proportionally to a teenage boyââ¬â¢s belief that sex is like porn. So much so that my enthusiasm for attending my first acapella concert went from ââ¬Å"intriguedâ⬠to ââ¬Å"aca-disappointedâ⬠within the first 5 notes. Another example of deceitful movie magic at its worst. This ââ¬Å"filmâ⬠somehow managed to inspire not one, but TWO underwhelming sequels. The general movie formula stands true that as the number of movies in a franchise increases, the quality decreases exponentially. According to my father, Pitch Perfect 2 is ââ¬Å"Better than Grease 2â⬠in terms of disappointing sequels, as some of the general population of moviegoers has at least heard of Pitch Perfect 2 and acknowledge its existence. The most recent addition to the Pitch Perfect saga is so inadequate that I refuse to name it. I mean, who asked for a third Pitch Perfect?! Where is the demand for this movie? Did it add ANYTHING to the narrative? NO. Yet here it is, existing. Youââ¬â¢d think after dragging the whole family to watch PP2 in theaters on opening day, only to be collectively disappointed, my father would learn his lesson, but that man has an unexplained, unwavering, and unnatural loyalty to Anna Kendrick and her musical hijinks. Pitch Perfect has become a forced father-daughter tradition. We have ââ¬Å"matched pitchâ⬠approximately once every two months every year since we purchased it on DVD in 2013. If being my fatherââ¬â¢s daughter means watching Pitch Perfect upwards of 20 times on its own, as a sing-along, and with director commentary, I have no choice but to comply. Thanks to my father, I can tell you more about the making of Pitch Perfect than I can the psychology exam I spent weeks studying for. When parents integrate their personal interests into their parenting (for example: forcing a child to play sports, or participate in certain extracurriculars, or watch the same movie until they want to throw the aca-DVD out of the aca-freaking window) Iââ¬â¢ve found that the best way to deal with it is to wait until they outgrow their passion, or find a new passion, or simply begin to focus on themselves and how they can enjoy their own hobbies. It doesnââ¬â¢t always work out, though. Look at me, Iââ¬â¢ve been waiting 6 years and I still canââ¬â¢t shake the acapella cloud that looms over my family, my memory, and my music library.

Learning from the importance that was, and to some extent is still associated to quinceanera or the sweet sixteen in most parts of the United States, we need to realize the significance of the social bonds that persist in our societies from ancient times to date. Beyond any reasonable doubts, there are certain stages and rights of passage that each one of us passes in life and which are given some form of communal responsibility, however little it may be compared to earlier times. These include similarly shared social functions such as child birth, the first marriage, parental responsibility, and lastly the final stage which is death. These are considered in different perspectives in different cultural backgrounds but the truth of the matter is that they are present in all communities in the world. Furthermore, the quinceanera topic is significant in the sense that it portrays the gender differentials were and are still seen in our societies today. Not many years have passed since women stated involving themselves in the disciplines which were traditionally regarded as masculine oriented. Examples of this can be found in cases where women were considered as child bearers and home keepers who were expected to be submissive to their husbands. In academic arenas, mathematics and science oriented subjects were gender-roles meant for men (Karen, 1996, pp. 45). The trend has fundamentally changed from women being submissive child-bearers, cookers, and weavers to equally productive citizens in the world. Through the course of history, the Jewish people have been mistreated, condemned, robbed, even put to death because of their religion. In the Middle Ages, they were forced to wear symbols on their clothing, identifying them as Jews. The dates 1933 to 1945 marked the period of the deadly Holocaust in which many atrocities were committed against the Jewish people and minority groups not of Aryan descent. Six million innocent Jews were exterminated because of Hitlerââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Final Solution.â⬠This paper will exhibit how Adolf Hitler used the three anti-Jewish policies written in history, conversion, expulsion, and annihilation to his advantage. In the fourth century when the Christian church gained power in Rome, the Jews considered the Christians as a Jewish sect early on. Soon their beloved Talmud was being burned because they would not accept the Christian doctrine. By the sixteenth century, the Jews were given an ultimatum, to convert to the Christian faith, which was part of the first anti-Jewish policy or face expulsion. The second anti-Jewish policy was expulsion. This policy was still used when the National Socialist rose to power in 1933 (Bartov,O., 2000). After Germany surrendered in 1918, Adolf Hitler was in the hospital recovering from mustard gas poisoning. He felt the deep humiliation of and for the German Reich, and it was then the hatred and bitterness towards the people he felt were responsible began. In 1919, Hitler wrote his first and last political statement regarding the ââ¬Å"Jewish Question.â⬠He proclaimed the Jews were a Jews altogether (Wistrish, R., 2003). Hitler had three long- term idealistic goals he would share with audiences as he spoke about Nationalism and the econo... ...s and sent an order for the traitors to be imprisoned. Before the Allied troops arrived, Nazi soldiers removed many Jews from the death camps in an effort to kill as many more refugees as they could (Rubenstein, W., 1999).
